However if you want to book a paranormal tour. There are some new changes.
1) There is a fee. The fee depends on how many there are in the group and to what extent that you are going to investigate.
We are a functioning Hotel with guests and this kind thing really upsets the tenants.
Booking rooms ( room rate $30.00 a night w/ double bed) and tours are still being offered.
So It Begins Again May 2008 During the month of May there was a sense of renewal and wonder at the Historic Ott Hotel , when two psycic's asked why there were rooms that were sealed off behind a wall ? No one told them about the wall or the rooms. interesting ? The two rooms upstairs in the east wing had been closed to the public due to some past problems in the rooms. Now the Management has decided to open Rooms 204 and 206 to the public and are restoring them to as close to 1928 as possible. That means no tv, no microwave, no phone, no A.C. (just kidding about the A.C.) Call 936-336-3832 to reserve your room. Don't forget our big December 21st 2012 party !!! Book now !!! We are going to ride the wave. Spots are filling up fast.
April 2008 Visitors reports: Room 205: During the night approx. 2:00 am loud scratches near right side of the headrest. Recently notices many scratches on the wall behind chair.
Room 104: Reported several nights in a row of door knocking between 2 am and 5 am. When checked no one was present.
Report for room 206: Saw a figure of a women at the end of the hall by the staircase then she was gone.
March 2008 we had a return visitor to the Ott Hotel. This man had stayed here 44 years age. He told the office of a true story about one night he was sleeping and heard knocking at his door. NO IT WAS NOT A GHOST !!! It was very strange. It was a man on a horse. He was sitting on the horse in the hall way knocking on doors looking for his friend. The year was 1963.
Once again the Historic Ott Hotel legends has been published. The Liberty County Outlook Magazine. October 2007 issue. "THE HAUNTING OF LIBERTY COUNTY" Page. 9
Darrell: Reported on sept. 26, 2007 he saw a women in a white dress and a man in a black cowboy hat standing and talking at the bottom of the stair case. Darrell though maybe they where a new couple staying at the hotel. When he turned back around the couple was gone. The front door had not been opened nor had anyone gone up the stair case. Darrell doubled checked to see where the couple went. They just vanished into thin air.
Room 216 guest reported strange noises and arguing in the upstairs hall way. Blue mist and orbs by the upstairs staircase.
Other Haunted Happenings at the Haunted Historic Once again the Historic Ott Hotel has lived up to being The Haunted Historic Ott Hotel.

Actual inscription on the Historical marker
OTT HOTEL
Built to capitalize on oil boom prosperity, The OTT Hotel became a
Liberty landmark. The regional economy in the early 20th century
focused on trade, timber and agriculture. The discovery of large oil
fields. Including Batson (15miles NE) and south Liberty (4 miles S.)
brought great activity to Liberty as the nearest rail connection, and
many new buildings went up, including restaurants, general stores and
this railroad hotel.
Louisiana native John Joshua Ott (1867-1939) and his wife Sallie
Wiggins Ott (1874-1963) of San Jacinto county hired contractor Elza
Burch to build the hotel. Completed in late 1928 adjacent to the Texas &
New Orleans railroad tracks and very near the depot. The Ott Hotel was
well positioned to sever train passengers and was known as a
Drummer Hotel. Named for the traveling salesmen of the day. Its
location was also ideally suited for automobile tourists on the Old
Spanish Trail (later State Highway 3 and U.S. Highway 90). As well as
those with business in the nearby liberty county courthouse.
The hotel's original design included 50 rooms in an L-shaped building
footprint, with community baths in the middle of the long halls. Dining
room and parlor space were later converted into additional rooms. A
sign painted on the bricks on the side along the railroad attracted new
arrivals. This two-story brick building features paired windows and has
a prominent four-bay front porch with tapered wood columns, A
low-pitch roof and brick detailing. Craftsman-style exposed rafter tails
outline the porch and the entire building. Several managers operated
the hotel, and the property remained in the Ott family until 2002 when
Mr. & Mrs. Mc Cain purchased the hotel.
Recorded Texas Historical Landmark - 2005

Wow !! Can you ever imagine being the person who is so old that they
don't know when their birthday is, but knows how old they are ? Here
at the Historic Ott Hotel we had that kind of dilemma of not knowing the
actual opening date just knowing we were born in 1928.
Due to this photo we have determined that the opening date was
sometime after August 9th, 1928. Looking at the stage of construction
we have come up with December 31st as our birthday. We are really
excited about our past and the future to come.
